\nToday we did visit Seljavallalaug (GPS N63 34.013-W19 36.379) which is a\n hot spring pool near Eyjafjallaj\u00f6kull. The weather was nice and the \npool was excellent, although it was not as warm as expected, but that \nwill be better with warmer weather.
The information\u2019s we did find about Seljavallalaug on Wikipedia:
Seljavallalaug\n is a protected 25-metre outdoor pool in southern Iceland. The pool is \none of the oldest swimming pools in Iceland and was built in 1923.
Seljavallalaug\n is located not far from the farmhouse of Seljav\u00f6llum. The construction \nwas headed by Bjorn Andr\u00e9sson Berjaneskoti, who received the \nUngmennaf\u00e9lagi\u00f0 Eyfelling for the work. Courses in the pool were \ninitiated as part of compulsary education in 1927. The pool is 25 metres\n long and 10 metres wide and was the largest pool in Iceland until 1936.\n
In 1990, a new pool about 2 km closer to the valley was built, but \npeople can still go swimming in the old pool free of charge, but at \ntheir own risk. The pool is cleaned once every summer. Prior to that, it\n is often covered with thick ice, requiring care.
The 2010 eruptions \nof Eyjafjallaj\u00f6kull filled Seljavallalaug with ash. In early summer \n2011, a group of volunteers gathered to clean the pool with loaders and \nexcavators.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
